A group of highly specialised Consultant Gastroenterologists and General and Hepatobiliary Surgeons have come together to form The Alexandra Liver and HPB Unit. This unique group, which is based at The BMI Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle are highly trained with the expertise to treat patients with both common and rare conditions, associated with the gallbladder, liver and pancreas.
All the consultants within the Alexandra Liver and HPB Unit hold NHS positions at the Regional Liver and HPB Unit, based at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.
The Alexandra Liver and HPB Unit provides a multi-disciplinary service for its patients and offers fast track appointments, diagnosis and treatment supported by specialised Consultant Radiologists, Nursing, Oncology and Palliative Care Team.
In order to obtain a Consultant opinion you will require a referral from your General Practitioner. Once a referral has been received, an appointment will be made at a time to suit you, with the most appropriate Consultant within the group for your condition.
At the consultation, the Consultant will take your medical history and any investigations that may be required such as Ultrasound (US), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scans (MRI), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and blood tests, can be undertaken at the same time. This will enable your consultant make a comprehensive diagnosis of your condition and discuss the treatment options available to you.
